The New Balance 1890A was first spotted at Paris Fashion Week 2025, worn by NB's marketing director—and the buzz hasn't died down since. It represents the same logic as the 1906L but pushes hybridization further: where the 1906L crossed a runner with a loafer, the 1890A crosses a runner with a Wallabee. The reference to Clarks' iconic shoe is direct—smooth leather moc-toe upper with a hand-stitched apron seam—but the midsole underfoot is that of the 2002, the ABZORB platform that redefined NB's lifestyle running.
The Morel / Black colorway is the launch colorway and the boldest. The Morel—pale buff yellow, reminiscent of the color of wild morel mushrooms—covers the smooth leather of the upper. Snake print overlays in brown, gray, and black wrap the mudguard and heel with an exotic textured finish. The black tongue label and matching midsole bring sobriety. The discreet embroidered "N" logo is the only visible signature.
Under the upper, the full-length ABZORB absorbs shocks with its cushioning inserts, and the ABZORB SBS pods in the heel add stability and comfort. A shoe that looks like nothing else in the NB catalog—or any other catalog.
